Work directly with the Manufacturing Engineer and utilize in-house HAAS VMCs with 4th and 5th Axis as well as HAAS CNC Lathes.
Responsible for Product Design and Development - Extremely High Attention to Detail and Problem-Solving Ability Requirement.
Experience Required: Design experience in the firearms industry is strongly preferred in the design of commercial or military firearms. This should include analyzing, interpreting, and applying professional engineering principles and practices. Candidate must model components on CAD systems, creating drawings and component specifications that meet design objectives and are producible.
Must Have! – Minimum Requirements to Apply:
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree with 5 years experience in a manufacturing/machining environment.
  • Complete Understanding of Mechanical Principles and the Ability to Analyze and Solve Issues.
  • Expert Level Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS
  • Update Process Documentation (Quality Control Inspections, Assembly Prints, and Diagrams, Product Design Situation Reports, New Process Parts Form)
  • Highly Proficient with Quality Inspection Equipment (Calipers, Optical Comparator, Gauges)
    • Measure with Calipers
    • Operate Keyence CMM Machine
    • Reverse Engineer Parts
DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES:
  • Develop design concepts on a 3-D CAD system (SolidWorks)
  • Produce drawings to ANSI-Y-14.5 format—up to and including level III.
  • Chair and participate in design reviews, assuring that products meet the overall design objectives are producible, have no safety flaws, and are saleable.
  • Develops and implements research and development procedures and techniques.
  • Generate prescribed instructions and procedures for R&D technical personnel. Train others in processes and procedures as needed.
  • Assist in the development of products and procedures.
  • Record required data from measurements and observations.
  • Follow firearm safety procedures and maintain the security of weapons.
  • Write summary reports for all product development.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of M*CARBO designs, data procedures, and processes.
  • Oversee the manufacturing of prototypes, managing the overall project so that all required prototype components are available to meet project schedules.
  • Develop and conduct test procedures to validate concepts, and direct and coordinate testing.
  • Conducts research and economic analysis, defines issues, and takes advocacy position in company regulatory matters.
  • Provides technical assistance to staff, contractors, vendors, State, County, and City officials in the application and interpretation of engineering standards.
  • Develops and creates virtual models to analyze designs using finite element analysis or dynamic simulation.
  • Designs and supervises the construction of designs as directed.
  • Conducts audits, audits design work and monitors projects.
  • Individual projects, work to be done, and priorities and deadlines are established by the R&D Project Manager.
  • Keep abreast of general work issues, forecast trends and identify opportunities for improvement of established programs.
  • Solicit input of perceived/actual needs/ideas for developing new products/programs.
  • Establish quantitative and qualitative standards of performance and utilized performance management principles and techniques to fully maximize employee productivity.
  • Incumbents in this classification are considered fully competent engineers, capable of performing all the conventional aspects of engineering of the functional areas of responsibility of the discipline involved.
  • Will be expected to independently evaluate, select, and adapt situations, and modify techniques, procedures and criteria to solve problems encountered.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts/coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work. This could be as part of a major project or a total project of moderate scope.
  • Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Work requires a broad knowledge of precedents of the engineering discipline.
